My name is Kay Lee and I’m a proud divorceé and doubly proud mama to 2 amazing girls, London and Lara.
I use that word “proud” in the sense that I embrace who I am and where I am in my life. Believe me, a divorced woman was the last thing I wanted to be. Today, I couldn’t be more grateful to stand where I stand- more confident, happy, full of love and clarity- and I know that I had to face what I feared the most to become the best and most authentic version of myself.
Deciding to go through with a divorce was THE hardest and scariest decision I ever made in my life. My status as a married mother of two defined who I was and giving that up meant that I had to question my identity. Who was I? Since I was a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom), what was I going to do with my life? How would I earn money? Did my value as person decrease? These were all questions I didn’t know the answers to, but I knew one thing. I couldn’t stay in that marriage any longer. When everyone around me told me I needed to stay and work things out “for the sake of the kids,” my gut told me otherwise.
Confused and devastated, I decided to call a life coach. That conversation with the life coach was a pivotal moment in my life. Everything changed after that call. I felt as if I had been walking around with blinds over my eyes my entire life and suddenly, the blinds were lifted. I began to question everything I’d been taught as a child. I began to review the way I lived up to that point. I woke up.
After that clarifying moment, I decided that I wanted to do the same thing for women like me. Women who feel stuck in life and can’t figure out why. Women who feel they should be happy because they did everything they were supposed to, but don’t. Women who are financially secure, but still feel anxious and constantly needing more. Women who are afraid to say what they truly want for fear of being shamed, punished, dismissed, laughed at, or all of the above. Women who go through life with the thought that “this is what life is now.”
Well let me tell you, it’s not, and it doesn’t have to be. If you’re one of those women, I am here to tell you, you have choices. But it starts with YOU. Are you ready to begin your new journey?
